Sharpe Image, Plaintiff, v. SHINGLE SPRINGS BAND OF MIWOK INDIANS,
As the historic Shingle Springs Indians (1870, 1935 IRA) and since the the Verona Band and Redhawk Casino insist on calling themselves by a modernized version of our historic IRA name "Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians" we have received numerous complaints from the El Dorado County residents about the Sharp Image lawsuit.
The Wopumnes are not affiliated with Redhawk Casino or the Verona Band who are using since 1980, without our consent, a modernized version of our IRA name the "Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians" to run Redhawk Casino. See Trademark Case for more information.
In California the Tribe must be aboriginal to the land to run a casino. By the Verona Band using the Wopumnes' IRA Name, "Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians", the Verona Band got IGRA to agree to them opening a casino.
The Wopumnes do not share in the Redhawk's gaming revenue and do not receive non-gaming revenues from the Verona Band's unauthorized use of our historic name.
Please refer to the court pleadings for details of the situation.
